Solo sailing is by definition a solitary enterprise but fortunately I was not alone all the time. I had the great pleasure of seeing dolphins almost everyday on my qualifying voyage. This pod stayed with me for 3 hours as I cruised through the Irish Sea with my gennaker.

Here is a video by the United Kingdom Sailing Academy after I returned from Italy with my catamaran Golfo. I studied wit the UKSA while doing my yachtmaster course and I don’t think they were too impressed when I faltered on the question “How did the UKSA prepare you for this trip”! The trip was my first solo sailing experience, and thus far and away more difficult than I imagined.
